LIMA, Ohio – A man is on trial for the murder of a woman with whom he lived in 2024.
A jury was seated Tuesday afternoon to hear the case of Gervens Justilien, 33, charged with the death of Chrislande Auguste, 26, in March 2024. According to Allen County Sheriff’s detectives, Auguste died of strangulation and blunt force trauma at a home on Makley Drive. According to authorities, the two lived with other Haitian nationals seeking asylum in the United States.
Justilien has been charged with murder, rape, and strangulation. Following the crime, investigators believe Justilien fled the area. He was later apprehended in Rhode Island by the United States Marshals Service. The trial is scheduled to resume on Wednesday.
