A decorated Arkansas cop with over 5 million social media followers has been charged with domestic battery after his wife claimed he hit her during a late-night argument, according to a report.

Officer Tommy Norman, a 27-year veteran of the North Little Rock Police Department known for his community outreach videos and work with children, was arrested Saturday after a physical altercation with his wife Rosalynd Norman at their home in Pulaski County, according to the North Little Rock Police Department.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette obtained a copy of Norman’s arrest report, which states that he allegedly hit Rosalynd Norman on the right side of her chest with the back of his hand during a verbal altercation just before midnight.

Cops were called to the home and found Rosalynd Norman with a minor injury on her chest. Tommy Norman was questioned at the scene and told an officer that his wife started slapping him during their argument and that he was attempting to stop the alleged assault, which resulted in the injury, according to police.

Despite claiming self-defense, Norman was arrested on a domestic battery charge and transported to the Pulaski County Jail, according to NLRPD officials. Law&Crime was informed Monday that he is now on administrative leave pending the outcome of the legal proceedings and an internal investigation.

According to social media posts, an alleged “admin” for Norman’s various accounts — which include Instagram, X, TikTok, and Facebook — issued a statement Sunday stating that Norman’s family needed “space” and that the details of “what occurred” were not fully known to them.

“What I do know is that Tommy will not be able to speak until all of the facts are reviewed both internally and externally, and until investigations are completed,” the administrator stated, noting that she is a “woman” who manages Tommy’s accounts from her home in Texas.

“I understand emotions are running high,” the administrator stated. “It’s frustrating not to have all of the answers right away, especially given the topics at hand. However, the process does not allow for transparency until it is completed. I ask that everyone wait for the facts before passing judgment. In the meantime, please keep Tommy’s entire family in your prayers.

Norman has received numerous awards for his community service and police work, including a Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award from the Biden administration in November 2021 and the inaugural Citizen of the Year award from the United States Veterans Hall of Fame in April 2025.

“Even more of an honor is that moving forward, The Officer Tommy Norman Citizen of the Year Award will be awarded annually to a citizen of upstanding character, that is making an impact in the lives of Americans and who also serves all selflessly!” Norman’s Instagram account was highlighted in an April 9 post.

According to Norman’s arrest report, his next court appearance is scheduled for November 6.
