The coordinator of Auglaize County, Ohio's only recycling facility is about to retire

Scott Cisco, the Auglaize County Solid Waste Management District Coordinator, will retire after 11 years in the position. Cisco has played a significant role in cleaning up Auglaize County’s only recycling facility, changing the way materials are collected and accepting new materials.

Cisco began working as a livestock buyer for his father and uncle’s family business, Cisco Stock Yard, shortly after graduating from high school. He then worked for the City of St. Marys for 17 years in the street department before joining the Solid Waste Management District. As District Coordinator, he is responsible for overseeing all facility operations, giving new customers walkthroughs, and explaining what can and cannot be recycled.

Cisco stated that when he began working for the Solid Waste Management District, there was little equipment available. The district began with a few trucks and now has three packer trucks, a couple of semi trucks, and two roll-off vehicles. When Cisco first started, the majority of municipalities had manned Saturday drop-off locations.
