LIMA, Ohio – There was a lot of red, white, and blue in Faurot Park on Friday afternoon—and it wasn’t just from American flags.
Around 80 vehicles arrived at the park for the annual Veterans Appreciation Car Cruise-in. Classic cars, tricked-out trucks, and a few patriotic paint jobs were on display for the audience. There was no fee to attend the cruise-in, but donations were appreciated. The event not only brought together car enthusiasts, but it also served as a way to express gratitude to the men and women who served in the military.
“This is a show to honour veterans. And if you are a veteran, please come. If you are not a veteran, please come. And you could see people mingling with the veterans, and everyone talking or sitting down, and you could tell they were having a good time,” says Andy Maravola, Veterans’ Appreciation Car Cruise-in at Star Spangled Spectacular.
Trophies were given out not only for the best cars and trucks, but also for categories such as oldest veteran and most unusual vehicle.
