WAPAKONETA, Ohio — Every Saturday from May to October, downtown Wapakoneta transforms into a hub of local vendors and shoppers.

The Wapakoneta Farmers Market wraps around the courthouse square, with tables selling fresh produce, baked goods, and handmade crafts, as well as a tool sharpening stand.

“The community just loves it because it gives time for connection,” said Wapakoneta Mayor Dan Lee. “It’s great to come down and buy the goods, but it’s also nice to check on your neighbor. We just had a storm, and people are asking, ‘How did your house do?’ and ‘Did you lose any shingles?’ So it’s not just about the market; it’s about the community that forms around it.”

Emily Liles, the owner of E. Ann Baking Co., stated that the market is also about developing relationships.

“I enjoy seeing the local community, having repeat customers, and developing strong relationships with them. “It’s a great experience,” she said.

The farmers market is held downtown every Saturday morning until October, giving visitors a weekly opportunity to shop small and support local businesses.
