The addition of Metal N Motion was a huge success

Meal N Motion, a Decatur company, has had good results with an expensive piece of equipment.

During a recent appearance before the city council, owner Eric Sorg stated that the new equipment “is working well; it’s exciting for us.”

Sorg and Adams County Economic Development Director Colton Bickel attended the council meeting, which reviewed and approved the company’s CF-1 form.

Metal N Motion received a property tax abatement from the council last year. Under Indiana law, firms receiving tax abatements must submit annual reports on their progress toward fulfilling the promises they made to the city in order to receive the abatement.

According to Sorg, the new cutter “is working five to seven times faster” than the machine it replaced.

“We’re already seeing new customers and working more quickly to meet their needs.”

Sorg stated in his request for the abatement that the new piece of equipment would require a $478,278 investment.

Metal N Motion is located at 827 S. 11th St., north of the Red Barn Veterinary Clinic.

The company has been in Monroeville for twelve years and is now in its fourth year in Decatur.

Tax breaks are granted on a sliding scale. For example, a five-year abatement reduces taxes by 100% in the first year, 80% in the second year, and 60%, 40%, and 20% in the following three years.
