HASTINGS, Neb. – Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop across central and southern Nebraska overnight Thursday, particularly along and north of Interstate 80.

According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, overnight lows will settle in the mid-60s with winds between 5–15 mph. Rain chances remain modest, ranging from 15–30%.

Friday will turn hot and breezy, with highs reaching the low to mid-90s. Southwest winds may gust between 20–30 mph, bringing a warm and dry stretch ahead of a more unsettled weekend.

Saturday will feature mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 80s to low 90s before thunderstorms return in the evening and continue into Sunday. By Sunday, storm chances increase to 40–70%, with scattered thunderstorms possible throughout the day. Highs will cool into the upper 70s and low 80s, with overnight lows in the low 60s. Winds will remain breezy, with gusts near 25 mph.

Travelers and residents are urged to keep a close watch on conditions, particularly along I-80, where storms may reduce visibility and impact travel safety.
