ST. MARYS, Ohio – The Firecracker Regatta began on Saturday at the St. Marys Boat Club, with sailors of all skill levels participating in a day of friendly competition.
“It’s an annual event; we’ll have around nine sailboats out today. Doug Drury of the Saint Marys Boat Club said, “It should be a great day, with some light wind, and it should be a fun race.”
The regatta is more than just a race; it’s also an opportunity for sailors to enjoy the lake and improve their skills.
“It’s simply an opportunity for sailors of all abilities to go out and compete in a friendly setting. It really helps you develop your sailing skills, such as setting your points of sail and getting to know your boat better.”
