Six children, including a two-month-old infant, were found locked inside a storage unit in Milwaukee early Tuesday morning, according to authorities.

According to the Milwaukee Police Department, officers responded to a storage facility around 1:36 a.m. after receiving reports of children being trapped in a storage unit.

When officers arrived, they discovered six children ranging in age from two months to nine years old inside the unit. Police said the other children were two, three, five, and seven years old.

ABC News obtained police dispatch recordings, which revealed that authorities initially believed there were only two children inside the unit when they arrived. Fire crews were dispatched to assist with the forced entry into the storage locker.

There have been no reported injuries, according to officials.

Police arrested a 26-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man. Their charges are under review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.

“I’m confused. “I don’t even know how to respond to it,” a local man told ABC affiliate WISN. “To me, this sounds like a cry for help, maybe they just needed help and didn’t know how to get it.”
