Relief from the Heat as Cooler Weather Settles in Southern Missouri

After days of intense heat, residents across southern Missouri will finally experience some relief as temperatures begin to return to seasonal norms through the weekend. The National Weather Service in Springfield reports that highs will be in the range of 87 to 95 degrees on Wednesday, with a chance of isolated storms before a cooling trend sets in.

Forecasters predict that rain chances will decrease after Wednesday evening, leaving behind several dry and sunny days. Thursday will bring temperatures down to the mid-80s to near 90 degrees, with cooler nights in the upper 50s. By the weekend, below-average temperatures are expected, with daytime highs reaching the upper 70s to mid-80s, and lows dipping into the 50s.

The cooler weather will bring welcome relief to the Ozarks region, including Springfield, Branson, and Joplin. Outdoor activities and travel will become more comfortable, though residents are still advised to stay hydrated and monitor local advisories as temperatures adjust.

The National Weather Service also noted that the cooler stretch should last into early next week, with highs on Monday expected to top out in the mid-70s to low 80s under mostly sunny skies.
