Quad Cities Weather Forecast A Transition to Fall

Residents in the Quad Cities area of Iowa and Illinois are in for a brief period of mild, pleasant weather before a significant change midweek. Monday and Tuesday will bring warm temperatures and mostly sunny skies, but a strong cold front is expected to sweep through the region by Wednesday, ushering in cooler conditions and the potential for rain.

On Monday, temperatures will range from the upper 70s to near 80 degrees under partly sunny skies. This warm stretch will continue into Tuesday, with highs reaching the low 80s. However, as Wednesday approaches, a strong cold front will bring a 50–70% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms across the region. Temperatures on Wednesday will vary, with highs in the upper 60s in eastern Iowa and upper 70s in western Illinois.

Travelers along I-80 and I-74 should be prepared for slick roads and reduced visibility as rain moves in, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours. Outdoor events and after-school activities could be disrupted as thunderstorms roll through the Quad Cities. It’s recommended that residents keep their phones charged and stay alert for sudden changes in temperature after the cold front passes.

By Thursday, the weather will take a noticeable turn, with highs struggling to reach the mid-60s. A cool breeze will make it feel more like early fall, and residents can expect a much chillier day than they’ve had in recent weeks. The National Weather Service has also mentioned the possibility of additional advisories if the storm system on Wednesday intensifies.

The weather will continue to cool off into Friday, with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-60s to near 70 degrees, marking the start of a cooler and more fall-like end to the week.
