Sioux Falls, South Dakota — Renner, the reigning Class ‘A’ legion state champion, advanced to the championship tournament with a 5-2 win over Sioux Falls West on Friday.
Post 15 scored two runs in the top of the first inning. The Royals tied in the second inning before taking the lead in the third. They added two insurance runs in the fourth inning.
In class ‘B,’ Groton qualified for the state tournament with a 6-2 win over Sisseton, while Clark/Willow Lake defeated Lake Norden/Badger 12-11.
The state tournaments start next week in Watertown and Milbank.
