Allen County, Indiana – Authorities are investigating a crash that left one person critically injured Tuesday morning east of New Haven.

The collision occurred shortly after 9:30 a.m. near the intersection of US 30 and Ternet Road, north of Monroeville. The right lane of eastbound US 30 was temporarily closed at the intersection; the passing lane remained open. Later that day, traffic appeared to resume its flow.

Based on the preliminary investigation, the Allen County Sheriff’s Department determined that an SUV on Ternet Road failed to yield to a pickup truck on US 30. The truck struck the SUV on the passenger side, causing it to crash into a nearby ditch.

The sheriff’s department confirmed that the SUV driver was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The other driver was also taken to the hospital, but his injuries were not life-threatening. Neither vehicle carried any passengers.

The crash is still being investigated.
