Please pray' FOP speaks out after local officers are shot twice in days.

Cleveland – The Ohio FOP President stated that the shooting of three Lorain police officers on Wednesday is a heartbreaking tragedy that occurs far too frequently.

“These officers were attacked by a coward, but the officers who ran to help are heroes, and everyone should remember that,” said FOP Ohio President Jay McDonald. “Violence against law enforcement officers continues to plague our society. “A stain on our society.”

The FOX 8 I-Team discovered that local officers have been shot at twice in as many days.

On Wednesday afternoon, three officers were ambushed and shot. Only days ago, police in Cleveland reported that a wanted man opened fire on CMHA officers, striking one in the hand.

McDonald points out that just a few months ago, a Morrow County deputy was killed in the line of duty.

And this month marked one year since Cleveland Police Officer Jamieson Ritter was shot and killed in the line of duty.

“I am asking everyone to please pray for the officers,” McDonald said. “Please pray for their families.”

He added that the attacks on officers must stop, and there is no quick fix.

“All of us must put an end to that type of violence,” McDonald said. “When I say all of us, I mean everyone from regular everyday citizens to state legislators to prosecutors to judges to cops.”
