OHIO — A Lima teen was hospitalized with suspected serious injuries after a single-vehicle accident early Wednesday morning.
According to the Shawnee Township Police Department, Shannon Smith, 19, was driving westbound on Breese Road around 7 a.m. when she fell asleep behind the wheel.
Her 2013 Hyundai veered off the road, hit a culvert, and overturned, causing significant damage.
The Shawnee Township Fire Department responded to the scene and took Smith to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center for treatment. Police cited her for failing to maintain reasonable control over her vehicle.
