Cleveland, Ohio – Ohio residents, from Toledo to Akron, should prepare for oppressive heat through Tuesday. Heat index values could soar into the triple digits in some areas. On Sunday afternoon, parts of Northwest Ohio could see “feels like” temperatures of 98°F, with the heat climbing to 102°F by Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, the most intense heat will affect north-central, northeast, and northwest Ohio, including Lucas, Erie, and Cuyahoga counties. On Monday, heat index values will range between 94°F and 100°F, with even higher temperatures expected on Tuesday afternoon. Youngstown and Warren may also experience 100°F or higher.

Risks and Safety Tips

This extreme heat poses a risk to those without air conditioning, outdoor workers, and individuals with health conditions. Emergency officials advise limiting outdoor activity during the hottest parts of the day, staying hydrated, and checking on elderly neighbors. Cooling centers may be opened in larger cities if the heat continues.
