No pupils were injured in the crash involving the Lorain school bus

Lorain, Ohio — A Lorain City Schools bus carrying approximately 30 students was struck by a vehicle that ran a stop sign, according to a district spokesperson.

There were no reported injuries.

The incident occurred just before 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9, near the 100 block of West 18th Street, according to a district release.

According to the release, a passenger vehicle ran a stop sign and collided with bus No. 485 as it crossed the intersection.

Lorain police responded and checked on all of the students “as a precaution.” They were then taken home.

“We are extremely grateful for the Lorain Police Department’s quick response. We also want to thank our transportation staff for adhering to proper procedures and ensuring the safety and well-being of our students,” the release states.

“Lorain City Schools remains committed to the safety of all students and will continue to follow all protocols in response to any transportation incident.”

According to the release, Lorain police are handling the traffic investigation.
