Near a collision with a lorry near Monroe, a mother and a teenager perish

Adams County, Indiana – A mother and her 16-year-old son died in a crash in Monroe on Tuesday.

That morning, the car they were in collided with a semitruck near U.S. 27 and S.R. 124/West Washington Street.

According to an update from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, the teenager driving the car was identified as Dallas Raugh, and his mother in the passenger seat was identified as 41-year-old Thera Raugh.

Police determined that, possibly due to foggy conditions, the car ran a red light and T-boned the semi as it passed through the intersection. The car became lodged beneath the trailer.

Medics pronounced the mother and son dead on the scene.

The semi driver was not injured and was transported safely from the scene.
