Multiple sobriety checkpoints are planned across Ohio this week

OHIO — This week, law enforcement agencies in Northeast Ohio announced a number of OVI (Operating a Vehicle Impaired) checkpoints as part of a statewide initiative to reduce alcohol and drug-related crashes.

Police in Olmsted Township will conduct a checkpoint on Columbia Road on Tuesday, September 16, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Two checkpoints in Stark County are scheduled for Wednesday, September 17.

On Wednesday, September 17, the Cleveland Division of Police will operate a checkpoint in conjunction with the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The exact location will be announced in the morning.

The Summit County OVI Task Force will conduct several checkpoints over the weekend. Operations will begin on Friday, September 19, and continue until early Saturday morning, September 20. Additional checkpoints are planned for Saturday evening, September 20, continuing into the early hours of Sunday, September 21.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol also announced that a checkpoint will be set up in Sandusky County this weekend, with the location revealed on the morning of the operation.

Officials encourage drivers to make safe decisions and avoid driving under the influence.
