Motorcyclist died after failing to stop at a red light and colliding with a car

A motorcyclist died after failing to stop at a red light and colliding with a car over the weekend.

Around 10:54 p.m. Saturday, Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers responded to a crash on State Route 58 in Amherst, according to CBS affiliate WOIO-19.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Shawn Edgell, 47, was driving a red motorcycle northbound on SR-58 at a high speed.

Edgell failed to stop at the red light at the intersection of SR-58 and the Interstate 80 exit/entrance ramps, according to WOIO-19.

The motorcycle collided with a Mini Cooper making a southbound turn from the I-80 exit ramp onto SR-58.

Edgell was fatally injured and died at the scene, according to WOIO-19.

The crash is still under investigation.
