Mojave Water Agency was recognized for excellence in financial reporting

The Mojave Water Agency has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024.

This prestigious award demonstrates the Agency’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and financial integrity. The GFOA award is North America’s highest form of recognition for government accounting and financial reporting.

“Our team’s consistent dedication to producing clear, accurate, and accessible financial documents is something we take great pride in,” said Lauren Warrem, Mojave Water Agency’s Chief Financial Officer. “This award is not only a reflection of the technical accuracy of our reports, but also of our efforts to build public trust through full financial disclosure.”

The Certificate of Achievement is awarded after a thorough evaluation by an independent panel of financial experts. Reports must meet the program’s highest standards, including a clear presentation of financial data that adheres to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and all applicable legal requirements.

The Mojave Water Agency, established in 1960, is critical to ensuring the High Desert region’s reliable water supply. As one of 29 State Water Project contractors, the Agency oversees water resources in a 4,900-square-mile service area, promoting long-term sustainability and stewardship.
