A Florida man allegedly attacked another man with a machete, injuring him and then driving him to the hospital himself.

Angel Ramos-Arce, 35, of Kissimmee, Florida, was arrested on Monday in Osceola County on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery causing bodily harm, according to court records. He was booked into Osceola County Jail.

The attack took place on Monday outside a Circle K at 4692 West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway. According to an arrest affidavit reviewed by Law&Crime, an employee at the convenience store reported that the suspect entered and began yelling at her, prompting her to call her brother for assistance.

According to reports, the brother arrived and confronted Ramos-Arce, followed by the employee’s boyfriend, who attempted to mediate between the two. When he did this, Ramos-Arce allegedly punched him in the face.

According to the affidavit, Ramos-Arce ran to his truck and grabbed a machete to “intimidate” the Circle K employee’s brother and boyfriend because they were “significantly bigger” than him, prompting the two men to flee. Ramos-Arce is said to have followed them and, when he caught up, slashed the brother’s arm.

According to the affidavit, Ramos-Arce admitted to authorities that the slashing was an accident and that he was so sorry that he told the victim to get into his truck so they could go to the hospital because he “felt bad.”

The woman recognized Ramos-Arce’s truck and led Osceola County Sheriff’s Office deputies to Advent Health Kissimmee, a nearby hospital. When deputies arrived, they discovered the victim’s blood and the machete in Ramos-Arce’s truck, according to the affidavit, and arrested him.
