A Michigan family is mourning the loss of a young mother, who was fatally shot by her ex-boyfriend in front of their baby daughter before committing suicide.
On August 29, Hamtramck police responded to a report of a shooting and discovered two people dead from gunshot wounds, according to a statement from the Hamtramck Police Department.
The victim’s family identified her as Brianna Frame, 24, according to WDIV and a GoFundMe page set up by the family. The Hamtramck Police Department did not identify the victim or the shooter in its post, and it did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
Her brother, Donald Frame, told WDIV he was present when her sister was killed.
“She’s screaming, and then I saw him shoot her in the face,” he told the outlet. “And then I went to grab my dad, and then I told him that she’s been shot.”
Brianna was murdered by her ex-boyfriend in her parents’ home, according to her aunt, Michelle Lynn, who wrote on Facebook. She was only 24 years old, Donald told WDIV, and “had her whole life ahead of her.”
Brianna’s cousin, Alicia Lepkowski, stated that the shooting has traumatized her family.
“Nobody should have to come back to the house and clean up a family member’s blood from the ground,” the woman told WDIV. “How do you even go on?”
Brianna’s obituary states that her “life was her daughter, and she enjoyed every minute of the 10 months she was able to raise her.”
In a GoFundMe page set up by Lepkowski to help Brianna’s daughter, Kameron, and defray funeral expenses, she stated that she is “praying for every woman who is going through domestic violence.”
