A Florida man accused of fatally shooting his sister after she allegedly kicked him out of their mother’s house could face the death penalty if convicted.

Pedro Pablo Linares, 57, was arrested in July, months after allegedly shooting and killing his sister, Beatriz Linares-Calamita, 60, at her Miami workplace. Linares-Calamita removed her brother from their mother’s home “due to his lack of care or financial contribution” to the household, according to an arrest warrant reviewed by Law&Crime. Linares allegedly began unannounced visits to his sister’s home following the eviction.

On April 4, he allegedly showed up at her workplace and was caught on camera shooting her several times before fleeing.

According to the arrest warrant, Linares-Calamita first arrived at his workplace around 4:59 p.m., as shown by the Ring camera at the front door. He tried opening the door but was unable to enter. Linares can be seen wearing blue gloves and a surgical mask over his face.

Linares returned to work at 5:35 p.m., still wearing gloves and mask, and the front door was open. According to the warrant, Linares came inside “with a firearm in his hand” and “shot [Linares-Calamita] several times, at close range.” He then left the scene.

Linares was positively identified by Linares-Calamita’s husband and daughter after officers showed them still images from the Ring camera video.

According to police, Linares fled to Louisiana before being apprehended on July 15. He was charged with first-degree murder, armed burglary, and assault. Linares was formally charged by a grand jury on September 3.

The Miami-Dade State’s Attorney’s Office announced on Monday that it would seek the death penalty against Linares. He is scheduled to appear in court on October 1.
