OHIO — A 39-year-old man was arrested Friday morning after a standoff with officers at a home in Mercer County.

Celina police responded to a domestic violence call just before 9 a.m. in the 500 block of South Walnut Street.

According to the department’s social media post, officers arrived to find Dustin Lawson standing in the doorway, holding a 10-inch filet knife.

He then barricaded himself inside the home, resulting in a 90-minute standoff.

According to police, Lawson allegedly assaulted two women before they arrived. A 15-year-old was also inside the home, but officers were able to safely remove him through a bedroom window.

During the standoff, Lawson allegedly came outside several times but refused to surrender.

Police used a less lethal shotgun loaded with bean bag rounds, but Lawson ran back inside and locked the door.

As officers attempted to force entry through the front, Lawson attempted to flee out the back, but was apprehended and arrested without incident.

He was booked into Mercer County Jail on charges of domestic violence, assault, inducing panic, obstructing official business, and resisting arrest.

Lawson was on bond at the time of the incident for a previous felony charge of failing to comply with a police order.

The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office is currently reviewing the case.
