Fort Wayne, Indiana – A suspect has been arrested following a police chase through Allen County that began with a traffic stop in New Haven and ended with a PIT manoeuvre in Fort Wayne.
According to the New Haven Police Department, the suspect shot a New Haven officer during the initial stop.
The suspect, who had felony warrants, led officers on a chase across the county. In Fort Wayne, ISP troopers used a PIT manoeuvre to successfully stop the vehicle.
Neither the officers nor the suspect were injured during the incident.
The male suspect has now been booked into the Allen County Jail. According to New Haven Police, there are currently no formal charges.
ISP is now in charge of the investigation at both the New Haven traffic stop and the final scene in Fort Wayne.
As the investigation continues, a portion of Hessen Cassel near McKinnie Avenue is still blocked off. Police say traffic is not significantly impacted, but there is no word on when the road will reopen.
