The prominent bulk of the Jackson Hotel stands at the left in this early photograph of Fremont’s Front Street, looking north from Birchard Avenue, most likely after the 1912 flood. The old Hafford Carriage building was on the northeast corner at the right.
The Jackson Underwear Company, which extended almost to the corner of Garrison Street, was marked by the ornate tower beyond it.
Take note of the utility poles with multiple crossbars and the single overhead light at the intersection. (Submitted by Larry and Krista Michaels.)
