Southern California residents are being warned about extreme heat as a heat advisory has been issued for multiple areas, including mountain regions and inland valleys. The advisory will be in effect starting Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. and will last until 8 p.m. Thursday evening. According to the National Weather Service in San Diego, temperatures are expected to soar, reaching dangerously high levels in certain areas.
Areas Affected by the Heat Advisory
The heat advisory covers several areas, including the Riverside County Mountains, San Diego County Mountains, and valleys in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties (commonly known as the Inland Empire), as well as San Diego County Valleys. Cities under the advisory include Idyllwild-Pine Cove, Julian, Riverside, Fontana, Escondido, and El Cajon, among others. High temperatures in these areas are forecasted to range between 85 and 104 degrees Fahrenheit, with the hottest conditions expected in locations at elevations of 5,000 feet and below.
Intense Heat and Heat Risk
The National Weather Service has warned that the most intense heat will likely affect communities to the east of Interstate 15 and in the Inland Empire. Due to these high temperatures, there will be a moderate HeatRisk across the affected regions. This means there will be a heightened risk of heat-related illnesses such as dehydration, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke, especially for those without access to air-conditioned spaces.

Residents are strongly advised to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the intense heat. The National Weather Service recommends drinking plenty of fluids throughout the day, staying indoors in air-conditioned areas, and avoiding direct sunlight.
