A stretch of hazy skies and gradually rising temperatures will envelop Illinois through early next week, bringing classic summer weather to Chicago and nearby cities. Daytime highs are expected to climb from the upper 70s on Saturday to the mid-80s by Monday, with little chance of widespread rain.
Warm and Tranquil Weekend
The National Weather Service in Chicago reports that a high-pressure system will keep conditions calm throughout the weekend. While temperatures will gradually warm up, the region will stay dry, with overnight lows ranging from the upper 50s near Lake Michigan to the low 60s inland. However, hazy skies are expected, which may affect air quality and visibility across the area.
Increasing Heat Into Next Week
The heat will continue to build through Monday and Tuesday, with high temperatures forecast to reach around 85°F in Chicago, Aurora, Joliet, and Rockford. Although there is a slight chance of a shower or stray thunderstorm on Tuesday afternoon, soaking rains are not expected. As a result, roads and public transit should remain clear, and minimal weather-related disruptions are anticipated.
Residents are advised to limit outdoor activities if sensitive to haze or poor air quality, stay hydrated, and ensure that air conditioning systems are serviced. While no severe weather is expected, it’s recommended that those traveling or working outside stay updated, especially as humidity increases in the coming days.
Summer Weather to Continue
Summer-like conditions are forecast to persist through midweek, with the next significant chance for rain likely holding off until later in the week.
