Adam “Pacman” Jones, a former NFL player, faces charges after allegedly assaulting a police officer.
According to ESPN, the Cincinnati Enquirer, and The Athletic, the 41-year-old former defensive back was arrested early Saturday, June 7, in Covington, Ky., just miles from Cincinnati, and charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and assault of an officer.
A Covington Police Department spokesperson confirmed the charges to the Enquirer, saying Jones is accused of assaulting a Covington officer. Additional information about the circumstances surrounding his arrest was not immediately available.
The Covington Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for additional information.
According to public records, Jones was booked into Kenton County Jail in Kentucky at 1:51 a.m. local time on Saturday. He later posted a $10,000 bond and was released around 11:30 a.m.
Jones has been arrested numerous times since 2021. Last November, he was arrested in Arlington, Texas, after the Mike Tyson-Jake Paul boxing match on charges of assault on a peace officer, public intoxication, evading arrest, and resisting arrest.
According to an Arlington Police Department statement, the officer responding to the scene requested backup and attempted to handcuff Jones while she waited for them to arrive. Jones, on the other hand, “got free and started walking away.”
Jones’s representative told TMZ Sports at the time that the former football cornerback “adamantly denies the allegations and looks forward to explaining the truth when the time comes.”
Jones was arrested in 2023 at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport for causing a disturbance as a “unruly passenger” on a flight, according to multiple news outlets. He was arrested on misdemeanor charges of alcohol intoxication, disorderly conduct, and terroristic threats. Jones accepted a plea deal and pleaded guilty to one count of disorderly conduct, according to Cincinnati’s WCPO.
Prior to that, in 2017, the former NFL player was arrested on charges of assault, disorderly conduct, obstructing official business, and harassment with a bodily substance for allegedly causing a disturbance at the Millennium Hotel in Cincinnati, according to police. Jones pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor charge of obstructing police, according to The New York Times.
The former cornerback was selected sixth overall in the 2005 NFL draft and began his career with the Tennessee Titans that season. He spent the majority of his career with the Cincinnati Bengals, from 2005 to 2018. He was temporarily suspended in 2007, 2008, and 2009.
