For four significant infrastructure projects in western counties, the Ohio Transportation Department is soliciting public feedback

Sidney, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 7 is inviting the public to provide feedback on several major transportation improvement projects being developed in western Ohio. These efforts to improve safety and infrastructure span Auglaize, Miami, Darke, and Montgomery counties, with construction beginning as early as 2026.

Roundabout to Improve Safety at US 33 and I-75 in Auglaize County

One of the most significant updates is the advancement of the AUG-U.S. 33 at IR 75 Interchange Improvements (PID 118055). Following public feedback, ODOT confirmed that it will proceed with its preferred alternative: the installation of a roundabout at the northbound exit ramp from Interstate 75 to U.S. 33. This plan is intended to improve traffic flow and reduce collisions in the area. Construction is set to begin in spring 2026.

A detailed summary of public comments and ODOT responses is available on the project’s official page. Residents and stakeholders can access supporting documents such as the project brochure, feasibility study, and roundabout navigation guide by clicking the “DOWNLOAD PROJECT FILES” button.

New Roundabout Proposed for Dangerous Intersection in Miami and Darke Counties

Another safety-focused proposal is MIA/DAR-U.S. 36 at SR 721 Intersection Improvements, PID 118070. This project focuses on an intersection with a history of higher-than-expected crash rates. ODOT’s current preferred solution is to replace the existing two-way stop with a modern roundabout.

Construction is expected to start in Spring 2027. ODOT’s project page includes an online presentation that outlines the scope and purpose of the improvement. The “DOWNLOAD PROJECT FILES” button also allows you to access supporting files such as a feasibility study and a roundabout driving guide.

Bridge Rehabilitation Set for Garnsey Street in Piqua

The MIA-Garnsey Street Bridge Rehabilitation, PID 121206, will focus on Piqua’s bridge spanning the Great Miami River. The work will include painting structural steel, replacing the deteriorated concrete deck with a new composite concrete structure, and making necessary approach road repairs. The rehabilitation is expected to begin in July 2026 and could take up to 12 months to complete.

Centerville to Add Multi-Use Path for Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety

In Montgomery County, the MOT-Centerville Franklin/Clyo Bike Path (PID 119385) proposes replacing existing sidewalks with a multi-use path. The improvements will begin on the south side of East Franklin Street (between Johanna Drive and Clyo Road) and continue east to Alex-Bell Road.

The 15-month construction project, set to begin in Spring 2027, is intended to significantly improve pedestrian and cyclist safety in the area.

Public Feedback Encouraged

ODOT invites residents, commuters, and community stakeholders to review the proposed plans and provide feedback. Comments must be submitted no later than July 31, 2025. Interested parties can reach Tricia Bishop at 937-497-6721 or email [email protected].
