Finalists selected for the Woman Farmer-Rancher of the Year Award at Dakotafest

The top five finalists for the Dakotafest 2025 Woman Farmer-Rancher of the Year Award have been determined. Dakotafest’s producers, IDEAg Group, will present the sixth annual award Thursday, Aug. 21, at the farm show in Mitchell, South Dakota.

Judges chose nominees whose applications demonstrated a high level of commitment to the farm or ranch in terms of hours dedicated; a positive impact on income, yield, diversification, or challenges; community involvement; and a passion for her farm and the agricultural industry.

In no particular order, the finalists are Shannon Kubik of Hamill, Crystal Neuharth of Fort Pierre, Leanne Wieczorek of Mt. Vernon, Frannie Fritz of Iroquios, and Shelby Boomsma of Hitchcock. These five women will be honored during the Women in Ag Event and Awards Ceremony in the Reaves Building on the show grounds.

“The 2025 nominations demonstrated tremendous dedication to and diversity in agriculture. Niki Jones, event marketing director at IDEAg, stated that their stories demonstrated their dedication to the community. “These five women are hands-on, dedicated ag producers and we are honored to name them as the top finalists for this award.”
