According to the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, storms are expected to begin in central South Dakota between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., impacting cities like Pierre, Huron, and Mitchell. The most dangerous activity will shift eastward along the I-29 corridor between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m., affecting Brookings, Sioux Falls, and Worthington. By 9 p.m. to midnight, storms will move into southwest Minnesota.

Counties at the highest risk include Codington, Deuel, Brookings, and Lincoln in South Dakota, as well as Nobles and Murray in Minnesota. The Level 4 out of 5 severe risk zones extend north of I-90, where there is a significant risk of large hail over 2 inches, destructive winds, and possible tornadoes.
