A Wisconsin woman was allegedly “tired” of being put down by her husband, so she shot him dead during an argument last week, telling cops, “He called me a b— for the last time,” according to prosecutors.

“I just grabbed my gun and shot him,” Doris Winters, 61, of Milwaukee, allegedly told detectives after killing her husband, Aerion Winters, 49, on May 31. “I’m tired,” Winters said in her criminal complaint, which was filed Wednesday in Milwaukee County. “I know I shouldn’t have shot him, but I’m just tired.”

Winters, who lives on Milwaukee’s north side, is charged with first-degree reckless homicide and using a dangerous weapon in the Saturday night incident.

Cops responded to her apartment complex at 95th Street and Brown Deer Road shortly after 10 p.m. and discovered Winters outside the residence, with witnesses and neighbors pointing her out to police, the complaint states.

“Upon arrival, citizens who were outside the apartments pointed to a woman who was walking away,” according to the complaint. “The citizens claimed she was the shooter. The officers witnessed the woman drop a handgun. They stopped her, arrested her, and recovered the gun she had dropped.”

While being taken to the police station, Winters told officers, “He called me a b— for the last time, and I just shot him.” She allegedly confessed to killing her husband while they were arguing in Winters’ apartment. A witness who was with them stated that Aerion Winters had been staying at a different residence, and the witness drove him over to Winters’ place to retrieve some belongings.

Once they arrived, the defendant and victim “began arguing,” and the witness attempted to de-escalate the situation by standing between them, according to prosecutors.

“The defendant picked up a handgun from near a table in the living room, racked the slide, and commented that it was loaded,” according to the complaint. “The victim walked upstairs, spoke briefly with the defendant’s mother, then returned downstairs. The defendant told him not to speak with her mother, and the victim responded by calling the defendant a ‘b—.’ “That infuriated the defendant.”

Winters, still holding the gun, reached over the witness and fired a single round into the victim’s back, according to prosecutors. “The victim collapsed, and the defendant told the witness to ‘get him out of here before I shoot him again,'” according to the complaint!

Winters allegedly told police that she shot her husband when he “turned away from her.” She stated that she did not intend to kill him.

“I’m just tired,” Winters allegedly said.
