Driver removes woman from SUV after they collision head-on at Flaugh and California in Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind.  — The driver of a work truck is credited with pulling a woman from her burning SUV after the two vehicles collided head-on Wednesday morning, according to the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.

The collision occurred shortly after 4:30 a.m. near the intersection of Flaugh and California in northwest Allen County.

According to a sheriff’s spokesperson, the SUV was driving south on Flaugh when it passed another vehicle in a no-passing zone. The SUV then collided with the work truck in the northbound lane.

Both vehicles caught fire, and the truck driver rescued the woman driving the SUV. She was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The driver of the truck was also injured. Police shut down the intersection while crews cleaned up the scene.
