Sturgis, South Dakota — Customs Kicking Cancer is back at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, continuing to educate men about prostate cancer.

Bringing this difficult conversation to the table is the first step, and with simple test kits that can be completed in 10 minutes, there’s no reason not to learn more.

“So we give away in-home PSA test kits to men in need who don’t have insurance or don’t want to visit a doctor. We remove those excuses and come to them, to their event, where they are most comfortable, and administer these tests to promote early detection and, ultimately, save men’s lives,” said Co-Founder/President Dan Lucas.

“A woman approached us and inquired about our efforts to help men ride longer. And we’re helping them by keeping them from going through the difficult journey of prostate cancer. And so that’s exactly what we’re trying to do: change that message for them,” said Co-Founder Katey Doman.

Approximately 200 motorcycles lined up for today’s free Chrome for a Cause charity rally ride. Lucas hopes they can help more men become vulnerable.

“Because men are not good at being vulnerable or showing weakness. We have cases where men refuse to deal with it, and their wives take the test kit and put it in their purse as they walk out, allowing them to take the test at home,” Lucas said.

Starting important conversations that may lead to prevention.

“What motivates me is the desire to get education out there for men so that they can start early. Understanding their baseline will allow them to catch this disease earlier and have a higher chance of becoming a survivor, according to Doman.

Customs Kicking Cancer will have a booth at the rally all week.
