WAPAKONETA, Ohio — The Wapakoneta Redskins are poised to make history. The four-time defending Western Buckeye League champions will return to the field in 2025, looking for their tenth title in the last 12 seasons under longtime head coach Travis Moyer.
After finishing last year with the league’s best defense and an undefeated regular season, the Redskins have reloaded for another deep playoff run. Seven of the five All-Ohio selections and four WBL first-teamers return for their senior seasons, forming a core group determined to lead Wapak to its first-ever state semifinal appearance.
However, Wapakoneta faces a more difficult challenge this year as it moves into Division III’s loaded Region 10, which includes three-time defending state finalist Toledo Central Catholic. Last season, the Redskins started 12-0 before disaster struck in Week 13.
Quarterback Caleb Moyer, a first-team All-Ohioan, broke a finger in his throwing hand. Wapak lost in the regional semifinals on a walk-off field goal, a disappointment that has fueled their 2025 campaign. Wapakoneta is out to show that this year’s team has what it takes to finally break through.
