Lorain, Ohio — The Charles Berry Bridge over the Black River, which is the primary route into Downtown Lorain, is currently stuck in the upright position.

The double-leaf bascule bridge, built in 1940, features a bridge deck that uses motors to lift both sides and allow ships to pass beneath.

Unfortunately, it became stuck on Friday, blocking the busy road until crews could complete the necessary repairs to lower it back into place, which could take several days.

The Charles Berry Bridge spans the Black River and runs alongside Erie Avenue and U.S. Route 6.
