If you’re planning to enjoy the summer sunshine, Saturday will offer the brightest day across Oregon. However, the National Weather Service (NWS) in Portland warns that by Sunday, August 3, clouds and cooler air will move in as a weakening Pacific system brings changing conditions statewide.
Saturday Sunshine, Sunday Clouds
According to NWS Portland, coastal areas will start Saturday with morning clouds but will clear to partly sunny skies, with highs ranging between 63°F and 68°F. By Sunday, however, the coast will become mostly cloudy, and temperatures will drop to 61°F to 65°F.
In the interior valleys, including Portland, Salem, and Eugene, Saturday will feature mostly sunny skies with highs reaching 83°F to 87°F, but Sunday will bring mostly cloudy skies and cooler temperatures, ranging from 75°F to 79°F.
Cascades Weather
Travelers in the Cascades can expect mostly sunny weather on Saturday, with highs between 73°F and 79°F. However, by Sunday, clouds will increase, and there’s a chance of showers, especially over Linn and Lane County Cascades, with temperatures cooling down to 65°F to 71°F. Drivers in mountain areas should be prepared for potentially wet roads and limited visibility by Sunday afternoon.
Plan Ahead and Stay Informed
The NWS advises Oregonians to make the most of Saturday’s sunshine, charge mobile devices in preparation for travel, and keep an eye on weather updates as conditions may change quickly. Additional advisories may be issued if the Pacific systems strengthen.
