Lorain, Ohio – The autopsy report for the suspected shooter of three Lorain police officers revealed new information Thursday about his mental state during the ambush.

On July 23, Michael Parker, 28, ambushed Officers Phillip Wagner and Peter Gale, who had just purchased pizza and were parked side by side at the dead end of Missouri Avenue.

The 28-year-old opened fire on Wagner, Gale, and responding Officer Brent Payne. Wagner died from his injuries the next day.

Parker was shot and killed by officers who returned fire.

On Thursday, Lorain County Coroner Dr. Frank Miller told 19 News that Parker had multiple gunshot wounds to his torso.

The toxicology report revealed that Parker was sober at the time of the shooting, with no drugs or alcohol in his system.

Miller also told 19 News that Parker had a traumatic brain injury approximately 12 years ago.

Parker has a history of remote mental illness and was admitted to a psychiatric facility 12 years ago, according to Miller.

Parker’s motive for the ambush is still under investigation.

Following the shooting, investigators discovered multiple high-powered rifles, handguns, and large amounts of explosives inside his car.
