An SD lady who embezzled was compelled to refund thousands of dollars

Sioux Falls, South Dakota – A Fort Thompson woman will have to repay thousands of dollars after pleading guilty to embezzling from the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe.

Mariah Sazue, 35, was sentenced to three months in prison followed by two years of supervision. She will also have to pay over $44 thousand in restitution.

Sazue served as the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe’s Human Resources Director from June 2022 to May of last year.

Beginning in December 2022, she submitted timesheets containing forged signatures and inflated overtime hours.
