Kendall County, Illinois – A woman will serve three decades in prison for killing her girlfriend nearly two years ago after an argument.
According to a news release from the Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office dated July 10, Alexia Telles entered a plea agreement and was sentenced to 30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for first-degree murder. She will have to serve the entire sentence, as well as three years of mandatory supervised release.
Telles reportedly arrived at an Oswego home in February 2023 with her girlfriend, Annissa Ellen-Williams, who had sustained a traumatic head wound. Medical personnel attempted to revive Ellen-Williams, but she was eventually pronounced dead.
Prosecutors say Telles got into an argument while Ellen-Williams was driving. Telles allegedly murdered her girlfriend and attempted to conceal her death as a suicide.
Kendall County State’s Attorney Eric Weis stated, “These cases can be difficult to prosecute because only two people know exactly what happened that fateful night.” However, the investigation conducted by law enforcement and the Coroner’s Office resulted in the successful prosecution of Telles for the murder of Ms. Ellen-Williams.
Weis continued, “This sentence ensures that justice is served, and the victim’s family is spared the agony of a trial. Telles has accepted responsibility for the heartless act she committed against someone she claimed to care so deeply about.”
