LIMA, Ohio — After four days of testimony, an Allen County jury took only a few hours to reach a decision in the case of a Haitian national accused of killing his female roommate.
Gervens Justilien, 33, was found guilty of aggravated murder, murder, strangulation, and rape in the death of Chrislande Auguste, aged 26. He was sentenced to 41 years to life in prison. In March 2024, they shared a home on Makley Drive in American Township with other Haitian nationals.
The Lucas County coroner determined that Auguste died of strangulation and blunt force trauma. During the trial, Justilien admitted to having sex with Auguste but denied killing her. According to authorities, he fled the scene of the crime before being apprehended by the United States Marshals Service in Rhode Island.
