A man died after a crash in Mercer County late Sunday afternoon.
Mercer County Sheriff Doug Timmerman said that around 5:25 p.m., dispatchers received 911 calls reporting a crash on U.S. 127 and State Route 274.
The man has been identified as Timothy Betts, 45, of Ada.
An initial investigation revealed that a 2010 Ford truck was traveling south on US 127. The driver, Roger Brockman, 70, attempted to turn east onto State Route 274.
Betts was driving a 2016 Harley Davidson. He attempted to “pass several cars in a clearly marked no passing zone,” but collided with the truck as it made the turn, according to the sheriff’s office. Betts was ejected from the motorcycle and did not wear a helmet.
He died after being taken to a nearby hospital by medics.
Sheriff Timmerman stated that this was the fourth fatal crash in Mercer County in 2025.
The crash is still under investigation and will be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for review.
