MANSFIELD, Ohio — Mansfield police believe Monday’s rainy weather contributed to a single-vehicle crash that killed an 18-year-old.
Officers responded to the intersection of Bowman Street and Poth Road on Monday afternoon, Sept. 22, for a report of a serious injury crash, according to a news release issued Tuesday.
Officers discovered a compact sedan in the treeline near the 700 block of Poth Road.
Tyson Christopher Adkins, 18, the driver, was ejected. Despite life-saving efforts, Mansfield firefighters pronounced him dead on the scene, according to the release.
According to the release, the car’s speed and the weather on Monday were both contributing factors to the crash.
On Monday, FOX 8 meteorologists predicted downpours for Northeast Ohio in the latter half of the day, which would intensify in the afternoon.
