All mistreated canines rescued from a California City residence have found new homes

Bakersfield, California – Saving Gizmo’s Friends told Eyewitness News that all dogs found neglected and malnourished in a California City home in January have been adopted.

The California City Police Department stated that in January, Animal Control and PD officers were dispatched to Laquenta Reynolds’ home on 94th Street in response to a report of several dogs being kept in poor condition in the garage.

Reynolds was running a dog rescue called “Pawfect Companions” out of his home. Officers arrived and discovered 15 dogs in metal dog crates, several of which appeared emaciated and had obvious wounds on their extremities.

It was discovered that the animals were malnourished, dehydrated, and had open infected wounds with bacterial and fungal infections. Following a thorough investigation, it was determined that the animals were allowed to deteriorate while in Reynolds’ care, and that their conditions were caused by her neglecting them and allowing them to suffer needlessly while failing to provide adequate food or water.

Weeks later, California City Police Department officers, along with Animal Control, Code Enforcement, and the Fire Department, carried out a warrant. 33 additional dogs were seized from the home’s bedrooms, common areas, and closets.

Reynolds was taken into custody and charged with animal cruelty.

Saving Gizmo’s Friends was one of the rescue groups that took in the dogs.

On August 18, the owner told Eyewitness News that all of the dogs had been adopted and were doing great. Thank you for raising awareness.
