Rapid City, South Dakota – A woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon after allegedly attacking and attempting to strangle an employee during a meeting at Destiny Foursquare Church.

Officers were dispatched to the church, located at 1001 E. Philadelphia Street, at approximately 1:15 p.m. on July 8 for a report of an assault in progress.

According to witnesses, 39-year-old Rebecca Goodbear was meeting with a church employee when she abruptly stood up and strangled the victim. A second employee stepped in and pushed Goodbear off the victim, allowing them to avoid further harm.

Goodbear fled the scene but was discovered shortly after in the 900 block of E. North Street. Because of the violent nature of the attack, she was arrested for attempted murder and transported to the Pennington County Jail.

There were no additional injuries reported. The case is still under investigation.
