A shooting occurred at a popular South Carolina restaurant, killing one person and arresting another, according to authorities.
According to a news release shared on social media, the Myrtle Beach Police Department (MBPD) is investigating a “shooting incident” that occurred at the Peaches Corner restaurant in Myrtle Beach on Friday, June 27.
According to police, the incident occurred around 11:15 p.m. local time and involved a “employee and another individual” who engaged in a “altercation.” Their identities have not yet been made public.
According to police, two people received “gunshot wounds” and one died as a result of his injuries. The second person was taken to a local hospital for treatment for a “non-life-threatening injury,” authorities said.
Following the incident, police took one person into custody. They did not say whether the person in custody fired the shots or how the altercation started.
PEOPLE contacted the MBPD and Peaches Corner for more information on the incident, but received no immediate response on Saturday, June 28.
Peaches Corner is a historic restaurant located on Myrtle Beach’s busy Ocean Boulevard. It is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. and has been in business since the late 1930s, according to its website.
The restaurant primarily serves diner food, such as hot dogs, burgers, fries, milkshakes, and various ice cream treats.
