Sheriff’s officials are asking the public for assistance in identifying a nonverbal young woman who was discovered wandering alone near Victorville on Saturday afternoon.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the woman was found walking alone around 4:30 p.m. Saturday near Mojave Drive and Highway 395, on the border between Victorville and Adelanto.
“The female is unable to communicate,” according to the agency’s written statement.
Deputies initially placed the young woman overnight with San Bernardino Children and Family Services, believing she was under the age of 18, according to officials. However, officials later determined that she was between the ages of 18 and 22.
“The Sheriff’s Department is looking for any information about this female including name, date of birth and home address to assist in getting her home,” according to a statement.
She’s described as Latina, 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing approximately 135 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
