Fort Wayne, Indiana – A murder charge against a 17-year-old Fort Wayne boy accused of shooting at Tillman Park last month has been dropped.

Tesa Helge, chief counsel for the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, filed the motion to dismiss late last week, asking that Josiyah Derrick’s murder charge in the death of 20-year-old Eriyn Brionne White be dropped.

Another man was left in “very critical condition” following the shooting, according to court records, but it is unclear what his current condition is.

According to documents obtained by 21Investigates, the prosecutor requested that the charge be dismissed without prejudice, allowing it to be refiled at a later date.

Helge stated that the dismissal would be in the “best interests of justice,” and that the request came after the Indiana State Police Laboratory’s July 3 results indicated that further investigation was required.
